04/25/08 The City will host a transportation summit, Transportation Futures for Galveston Island, Galveston County and the Houston-Galveston Region, on Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at the Galveston Island Convention Center from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
“All of us in the Galveston Area are individually working to address our current mobility issues and also planning for our future mobility needs. However, to be successful in our efforts, we must begin to work as a team,” stated Mayor Lyda Ann Thomas. Mayor Thomas will open the summit next Tuesday.
Key elected officials and mobility improvement professionals will discuss available alternatives and opportunities, future trends affecting our area’s quality of life, state and local legislation prospects and financing tools, and partnerships that will keep the Galveston area moving and improving. Speakers include:
